Barcelona Art Nouveau building: 3D Pixel-Art Diorama

Another building with pixel-art textures! This time, I was inspired by the Art Nouveau architecture of Barcelona, the place where I've been living for over a decade.

Although I wanted to make something better preserved than the Brutalist building, I still didn't want to make something too flashy or expensive-looking. Just a regular building where me or my friends could rent a room.

Music has been especially made by Gabriel Garrido Garcia (Twitter: @gabrimusicK).

Rendered in Unity 2020, recorded using the Unity Recorder. Lights are a mix of baked lightmaps and realtime directional light. Reflections on the puddles are made with a generic cubemap + some realtime pointlights.

Detail of the balcony. Plants use a vertex displacement shader too. Most of them have been repurposed from the Brutalist building.

Detail of the lot. I added some lost balls to make it more real.

I'm strangely proud of these containers. They're based on an old metal model that can still be seen in some streets of Barcelona. Left one is for organic trash, right one is for papers.
I think the result is kinda cute.

There are things inside of the houses too: paintings, tables, shelves, plants, etc.

Another voyeuristic shot of the interiors. Tables, cacti, and a deck chair are visible.

I was building this scene in the same Unity project as the Brutalist building. I always like to optimize my graphics, so I placed the UVs in the same atlas I already had there.
